Peter L. Dumont fought for the 146th NY Regiment in the Civil War between 1862 and 1864. Before his death in the Battle of the Wilderness, he wrote over 80 letters to his wife Clarinda in Utica from the Army of the Potomac battlefields. Sgt. Dumont articulately chronicles his experiences at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Libby Prison and numerous camps, and includes sketches. He openly shares his varied emotions and reflects on Clarinda's letters. |
